The Horse-O-Meter works off the stride
of the horse. Instructions give examples for setting your stride. It
was tested for two years at our local Livestock Market. It is accurate,
to with-in 100 ft.
It closes in its own little case, semi-water proof but not enough for
dipping in water. Try to avoid direct water contact, can be opened and
read from the back of the horse.
Note==> Set it for the Gait
you use the most. It is not accurate right down to the ft. I set mine
for a regular walk then if I do some trotting or loping and at the end
of the ride it says 6 miles then I know I have gone a little over 6
miles. Say I ran 1/2 mile of the trip then it is only going to be off
by about 10 ft.
